Max said the machine had become clogged and Josh was apparently attempting to clear it when part of the equipment fell on him, causing fatal injuries.
Family Demands Answers
Josh’s death has raised questions about workplace safety and whether he was working alone while dealing with dangerous machinery.
Dave Kirner, secretary of the South Australian chapter of the Timber, Furnishing & Textiles Union, said the union had previously raised concerns with Mechanical Vegetation Solutions and SafeWork SA regarding workers operating dangerous equipment alone.
SafeWork SA inspectors are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal workplace incident. South Australia Police are also preparing a report for the coroner.
Mechanical Vegetation Solutions expressed its condolences to Josh’s family, friends and everyone affected by his death, saying its immediate priority was supporting those impacted by the tragedy.
