A man has died following a fight at a bar in St. Albans, West Virginia, early Saturday morning, according to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim was identified as Cecil Pomeroy Jr.
Deputies said they were called to EZ Street Bar at approximately 12:46 a.m. after receiving a report of an altercation. When deputies arrived, they found Pomeroy unconscious in the parking lot.
Cecil Pomeroy Jr. Dies After Bar Fight
According to the sheriff’s office, the investigation determined that a verbal altercation had taken place between Pomeroy and Tyrone DeShawn Washington of Culloden, West Virginia.
Authorities said the argument escalated into a physical fight, during which Washington allegedly struck Pomeroy multiple times, causing life-threatening injuries.
Pomeroy was transported to Thomas Hospital for medical treatment, where he was later pronounced dead.
Investigation Underway
The circumstances surrounding the fatal altercation remain under investigation by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities are expected to provide additional information as the investigation progresses, including details about any charges connected to Pomeroy’s death.
