Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala has revealed that he is receiving medical treatment for a neurological dysfunction after collapsing during a match for the second time in four days.
The 23-year-old Germany international experienced the worrying episode on Tuesday during Bayern Munich’s 4-2 friendly victory over Heidenheim.
Musiala had come on as a substitute before collapsing approximately six minutes after entering the match. He appeared dazed as medical staff attended to him and subsequently helped him leave the pitch.
The incident raised concerns because it came just days after a similar episode during Bayern’s 3-1 friendly victory over RB Leipzig on Saturday.
Jamal Musiala Explains His Condition
Following the second incident, Musiala addressed supporters through a statement shared on Instagram.
He explained that doctors had diagnosed him with temporary, brief absence seizures caused by a neurological dysfunction.
Musiala acknowledged that the episodes can appear frightening but said they are currently something he is learning to manage as part of his daily life.
He also reassured fans that he is receiving medical care and remains optimistic about his condition.
The midfielder thanked Bayern Munich, his family and his friends for supporting him through the situation.
Bayern Munich Aware of Musiala’s Condition
Bayern sporting director Max Eberl said after Tuesday’s match that the club was already aware of Musiala’s condition.
Eberl indicated that Musiala would address the situation himself after the game, while confirming that Bayern was aware of what had happened.
The club has continued to support the midfielder as he undergoes medical treatment.
Musiala’s Recent Injury History
The latest health concern comes after Musiala endured a lengthy absence from football.
He missed the first six months of the previous season after suffering an ankle fracture at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
Musiala eventually returned during the second half of the campaign and regained his place with both Bayern Munich and Germany.
He subsequently started three of Germany’s four matches at the 2026 World Cup.
Fans Concerned After Second Collapse
Musiala’s second collapse in such a short period naturally caused concern among supporters, particularly given his previous injury problems.
However, his latest statement appears intended to reassure fans that he is receiving appropriate medical attention and remains positive about his recovery and future.
The Bayern midfielder has emphasized that his condition is being treated and that he has strong support from the club and those closest to him.
Further medical updates may be provided as Musiala continues working with specialists.
Jamal Musiala remains optimistic about his health and treatment as Bayern Munich and his loved ones continue to support him through the neurological condition.
